Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is a freezing treatment that creates a firm adhesion of the retina to the wall of the eye in an area of the peripheral retina with disease.  Cryotherapy can be performed in the office or in the operating room.   Your retina specialist may recommend cryotherapy as part of the treatment plan for a retinal tear, retinal detachment, or inflammatory condition such as pars planitis.
